Happiness!

Happiness

A Facebook group, “Piano Players,” posted this today and it reminded me of the joy that people of all ages experience when playing piano. At Freeburg Pianos, we connect with a lot of older adults, through piano service or piano purchases, who are either learning to play piano for the very first time or are returning to the joy of piano playing from their childhood and adolescence.   It’s really fun for me to hear them timidly, but eagerly, ask if I think they can still learn to play piano. “Of course, you can. We know people in their nineties that are learning for the first time.” For those who learned as children, “It’s like riding a bike. You may wobble a bit at first but it’ll come back to you and soon you’ll be relaxed and enjoying the ride.”   Of course, as with any skill, there’s room for improvement but advancing is part of the joy. Many children and adults find practicing to be relaxing and also rewarding. Perhaps you learned to play piano as a child but haven’t had or made time to do it for many years. This could be your time. We’ve got pianos and we’ve got teachers. I’ll be glad to cheer you on, encouraging you in your endeavor.

  1. Yes! Yes ! Yes! Yes!
I am one of those “older” (Ha! Who me? Not!) adults who recently returned to the piano after many, many years away from the instrument. I am loving every minute of it! (In fact, I have to discipline myself to NOT sit down and play the piano so I can get my work done!) Joann and Levi helped me select the right piano for my needs, space and budget, and I just love my piano. And I never dreamed I would ever, ever have a music teacher of the expertise, experience and professionalism of Dr. Cobb… he is amazing and it is an honor and privilege to be his student. It’s ALL good, people! Just do it.
