Special Events this Week!

Dear Readers,

This weekend, there will be three events in our Master Works Theatre and one at Cummings Memorial UMC.  We hope you’ll be able to join us for one or more of them.

Thursday, November 19 at 7:30, our much-loved jazz artist, Michael Jefry Stevens, will be presenting selections of George Gershwin as part of his Living Room Series in our Master Works Theatre.  Michael’s stories always inform and entertain us.

Chamber-Treks is an exciting new chamber music initiative sponsored by Freeburg Pianos.  The kick-off program will be presented Saturday, November 21 at 10:30 a.m. in Freeburg Pianos’ Master Works Theatre at 2314 Asheville, Highway, Hendersonville.  This educational program is open to the public and free of charge.

The Chamber-Treks November event will include three unique ensembles who will each perform one composition and offer a narrative of how the work was rehearsed and prepared for performance. There will be opportunity for the audience to ask questions such as how to start a chamber group and prepare for performances.  Local music studios that provide music, instruments and instrument repair will be available on-site to assist anyone ready to start their own chamber music experience.

Beginning the program, Dr. John Cobb on piano, Keith Freeburg on contrabass and Peter Voisin on trumpet will perform “Strings” Composed by Peter Voisin for Keith Freeburg.  Local jazz singer, Elise Pratt will perform a favorite vocal selection accompanied by guitarist Dan Keller.  The final presentation will be a selection by the Renaissance recorder quartet “Camerata Antiqua” in full historical costume.
