Small Town with Big Music

The Tryon Daily Bulletin is known as “The World’s Smallest Daily Newspaper.”  I subscribe to it because we’ve lived near Tryon for the past eleven years and it is chock-full of local news and happenings.  The 8½” x 11” TDB, as well as the three-stop-light town it serves, may be small but the 315-seat Tryon Fine Arts Center thinks big.

Throughout the year, the Tryon Fine Arts Center hosts a variety of quality musical events.  I am especially excited about the upcoming concert at 3:00 on Sunday, August 24.

We are bringing two magnificent Perzina grand pianos to the stage for our very own fourteen-year-old Christopher Tavernier and Dr. John Cobb who will be performing a Two-Piano Extravaganza featuring selected works of Lizst, Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky.  The event is our World Masterworks Series 2nd Annual Benefit Concert. Many of you attended last year’s first annual benefit concert at the Diana Wortham Theatre in Asheville. I can still see the looks of absolute amazement and delight as you left the theatre. We are all still talking about how fantastic it was.

It is a thrill for us to be adding the Tryon Fine Arts Center as a second benefit concert venue this year. Please join us in Tryon for this wonderful performance.  You will be very glad you spent a magnificent, musical Sunday afternoon in a lovely small town. (Video Preview)
