The End of a Season

The season is changing; fall is in the air.  Not only is it time for summer to come to an end but it is time for the Season Grand Finale of our Lineage Production: “Masterwork Series – Preserving the Lineage of Franz Liszt.”  The last performance, short of an invitation to Hungary or somewhere equally exciting, is Saturday night in Asheville at the Diana Wortham Theater.

Freeburg Pianos and Perzina Pianos (remember Perzinas are Christopher’s piano of choice) are sponsoring the benefit concert for “Ladies Night Out” which is a joint program of Mission Healthcare Foundation and Buncombe County Health Department to ensure that every woman has access to a mammogram. We are excited about having WLOS TV 13 anchor, Darcel Grimes, as our emcee.

The dairy industry says that “milk does a body good” but my thought today is that “benefits do a heart good.” That’s not the best English but it serves my purpose in saying that people helping people is a beautiful thing, providing benefit to the giver as well.

It wasn’t planned or even realized until a couple of days ago but, in the past three weeks, my family has been involved in several benefits. I’m including a few photos just to make it a little more interesting.

If you’ve ever been to Duluth, MN, you’ve seen the aerial lift bridge. I was in Duluth many times as a young girl. Watching the bridge rise to let the big ore boats into the harbor was always exciting. A couple of weekends ago, my sister was involved in a program to light the bridge with teal in recognition of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

A couple of weeks ago, my niece bicycled thirty miles in the “Purple Ride.” The event raised $430,00 for the Pancreatic Cancer Network in Minneapolis, MN. The ride took place almost a year ago to the day since her dad passed away from the disease.

Our daughter Emily and her family ran in the 8th annual Western North Carolina Run/Walk for Autism. This photo of the five of them crossing the line as a family was on the front page of the B section of the Asheville newspaper. That’s our Katelyn, then Brady, then Natalie with Emily and Nathan. The event raised $61,000.

Now, here we are raising awareness and funds for breast cancer detection through our love of music.

There are still tickets available. If you are close enough to get there, please join us for a great evening.

Blessings,

Joann
